One of New Zealand’s most respected scientists, a malacologist, zoologist, ecologist and conservationist, has died. John Morton was born in the small country town of Morrinsville, near Waikato, on New Zealand’s north island on 18 July 1923 and died peacefully at his home in Auckland, surrounded by his family, on Sunday 6 March 2011.
