Abstract

Unio zelebori Dunker in Dunker & Zelebor, 1866, long accepted as being of New Zealand origin and a synonym of Hyridella (Echyridella) menziesii (Gray, 1843), is based on mislocalised specimens of the southern African fresh-water mussel Cafferia caffra (Krauss, 1848). A syntype of U. zelebori is illustrated.
