Abstract

Four new species of the genus Ecnomus McLachlan, 1864 from China are described: E. jianfengensis Zheng & Sun, sp. nov. (Hainan), E. zhengyangorum Zheng & Sun, sp. nov. (Hainan), E. changhuaensis Zheng & Sun, sp. nov. (Hainan), and E. deformitas Zheng & Sun, sp. nov. (Yunnan). Detailed morphological descriptions, diagnostic characters, and illustrations are provided for each new species. Additionally, ten species are newly recorded from China: E. alkestis Malicky & Chantaramongkol, 1997, E. argonautos Laudee & Malicky, 1999, E. cationg Oláh & Malicky, 2010, E. jojachin Malicky & Chantaramongkol, 1993, E. mammus Malicky & Chantaramongkol, 1993, E. puro Malicky & Chantaramongkol, 1993, E. suadrus Malicky & Chantaramongkol, 1993, E. uttu Malicky & Chantaramongkol, 1993, E. venimar Malicky & Chantaramongkol, 1993, and E. volovicus Malicky & Chantaramongkol, 1993. These newly recorded species are re-illustrated and supplemented with updated distributional data. An overview of the historical and current research on the classification of the species groups of Ecnomus is provided.
