Abstract
Five new species of Phraortes are described from the Ryukyus, Japan. Phraortes tokaraensis sp. nov. is described from Nakanoshima Island, P. kenmun sp. nov. from Amami-Oshima Island, P. okinawaensis sp. nov. from Okinawa-honto Island, P. yaeyamaensis sp. nov. from Ishigaki-jima Island, Iriomote-jima Island and Kuroshima Island, and P. maisan sp. nov. from Yonaguni-jima Island. The morphology of females, males, and eggs of the new species is illustrated. A key to the species of Phraortes from the Ryukyus is also provided.
