Abstract

A new species of the genus Ocnogyna Lederer, 1853, O. florianii sp. nov., is described from Sichuan Province, China. It is the first species of the genus known from East Asia; previously, Ocnogyna loewii pallidior Christoph, 1884 was reportedly the easternmost taxon distributed in Central Asia from Turkmenistan to SW Tajikistan. The new species is known only from two males and is reminiscent of the light-colored forms of the type species of the genus, Ocnogyna zoraida (Graslin, 1837), distributed in Spain. Additionally, a diagnostic comparison is made with the European Ocnogyna parasita parasita (Hübner, 1790) and the Levantine Ocnogyna clathrata clathrata Lederer, 1855, which are reminiscent in some features of male genitalia.
