Taxonomy of the Proisotoma complex. VIII. New species from the Holarctic and phenotypic dimorphism of Proisotoma s.str.

Abstract

The paper regards 19 species of springtails belonging to Proisotoma Börner, 1901 s.str., the basic genus of the Proisotoma generic complex. Proisotoma agrarica sp. nov., P. belovae sp. nov., P. falscaeca sp. nov., P. orientalis sp. nov., P. tabaiba sp. nov., P. trisetosa sp. nov., and P. trisminuta sp. nov. are described, others are redescribed or commented based on new material. Palaearctic materials are mostly focused on but one species from the Nearctic is also described. Phenotypic dimorphism is shown for nine species of the genus. A key to the Holarctic species studied in this paper is also provided.
