Abstract
The genus Meteorus Haliday comprises over 350 described species worldwide. They develop as koinobiont endoparasitoids of the larvae of Lepidoptera and more rarely those of Coleoptera. Several species in this genus have a potential application as biocontrol agents. Currently 80 Meteorus species are known to occur in the Neotropical region but many more remain undescribed. The present study provides descriptions and names for new species of Meteorus from Area de Conservacion Guanacaste in Costa Rica, as well as new distribution and host records. Descriptions of all new species integrate morphological, molecular and host data. Twenty six species are newly described: M. bobkulai sp. nov., M. centrojasonvorum sp. nov., Meteorus chrisdarlingi sp. nov., M. christerhanssoni sp. nov., M. davesmithi sp. nov., M. felipechavarriai sp. nov., M. gabygutierrezae sp. nov., M. iangauldi sp. nov., M. ideausvorum sp. nov., M. iankitchingi sp. nov., M. jennyphillipsae sp. nov., M. josejaramilloi sp. nov., M. luzmariaromeroae sp. nov., M. manducavorum sp. nov., M. markshawi sp. nov., M. mariamartachavarriae sp. nov., M. mikesharkeyi sp. nov., M. peggyaevorum sp. nov., M. ptiloscolavorum sp. nov., M. robertofernandezi sp. nov., M. rodolpherougeriei sp. nov., M. seanbradyi sp. nov., M. sigifredomarini sp. nov., M. tiboshartae sp. nov., M. tomdaleyi sp. nov., and M. unzelavorum sp. nov.
