Abstract
A new species of the European millipede genus Melogona Cook, 1895, Melogona sintica sp. nov., is described from southwest Bulgaria. The new species is compared in detail with two of its congeners with whom it shares particular similar morphology and, possibly, an overlapping distribution range. A key to all seven currently known species of the genus is compiled. The grouping within Melogona and some distribution patterns shown by its members are briefly discussed.
