Leuconidae Cumacea deep-sea new species new genus Crustacea

Abstract

The Leuconidae (Cumacea) from the expedition DIVA 3 with RV Meteor to the Argentine and Brazil Basins (July to August 2009) were analysed, 8 new species and 1 new genus are described. These species are Bytholeucon paucidentatis sp. nov., Eudorella paramonodon sp. nov., Eudorellopsis dentata sp. nov., Leucon (Alytoleucon) argentinensis n.sp., Leucon (Crymoleucon) pinocchio sp. nov., Leucon (Leucon) brevirostratis sp. nov., Leucon (L.) paravasilei sp. nov., and Remyleucon hyalorostris gen. nov. sp. nov. Only 1 leuconid species, Leucon (C.) cf. lufupa, was already known from the Angola and Cape Basins.
