Abstract
Hypanthracos Grazia & Campos (Pentatomidae: Carpocorini) is a Neotropical genus with two known species, H. meridionalis Grazia & Campos and H. ditarsus Grazia & Campos. The genus has recently been placed in the Mecocephala group, which includes several species that feed on grasses. Many of these species are important pests of rice in South America. In this study we describe a new species of Hypanthracos associated with rice fields and natural wetlands from Argentina, representing the first record of the genus in the country. A key to Hypanthracos species is also provided.
