Abstract

A new species of the genus Necydalis Linné, 1758 (Coleoptera: Cerambycidae: Lepturinae) is described and illustrated from Mt. Dahanshan in southern Taiwan. This represents the first discovery of a new Taiwanese species of this genus in nearly half a century. Based on morphological analysis, the new species and seven related species are provisionally placed in the Necydalis ulmi group, whose morphological characteristics and biogeographical context are discussed. These findings enhance our understanding of the diversity and distribution of Necydalis in East Asia.
