Abstract

The examination of the holotype and part of the paratypes of Bryconamericus macrophthalmus Román-Valencia, 2003, along with additional specimens collected throughout the upper rio Negro basin in Brazil and Colombia, demonstrates that this species is a senior synonym of Knodus tiquiensis Ferreira & Lima, 2006, originally described from the upper rio Tiquié, a tributary of the rio Uaupés, upper rio Negro basin, Brazil. Bryconamericus macrophthalmus is transferred to the genus Knodus, and its distribution range is updated.
