Crustacea Mysidae Petalophthalmidae endemic Siriella Southeast Asia

Abstract

The zoogeographic distribution of the species of the order Mysida (Crustacea: Peracarida) occurring in Indonesian waters is presented. For each species, data on regional and global distribution, bathymetric ranges, habitat and localities reported from published data are provided. A total of 79 species of the order Mysida belonging to two families, nine subfamilies, 12 tribes and 31 genera occur in Indonesian waters. The western Indonesian region is the highest in species richness (44 species), followed by eastern (30 species) and central regions (28 species), respectively. The number of species in this country is substantially greater than the numbers reported for the neighboring countries of Singapore, Malaysia and Thailand. Of the 79 recorded species, 18 (22.7%) appear to be endemic to Indonesian waters. This update adds to the information regarding the biodiversity of the order Mysida from Indonesia.
