Abstract
Crickets in the subfamily Eneopterinae have been recently the focus of many taxonomic and evolutionary studies, particularly the tribe Lebinthini, which is known for its high species richness, wide distribution and diversity of communication behaviors. Their sister group, the Xenogryllini, are much less diverse, have a distribution limited to the Afrotropics and Asia, and have been the subject of fewer studies. In this study, we extend the knowledge on this tribe by describing a new species from Madagascar: Xenogryllus lemuria Yu & Robillard sp. nov. We also leverage a genome skimming approach to generate its complete mitogenome, which will provide valuable data for further phylogenetic and evolutionary studies of Xenogryllini crickets.
