The Cephenniini of China. X. New species and new records of Cephennodes Reitter of Yunnan (Coleoptera: Staphylinidae: Scydmaeninae)

Abstract

Forty new species of Cephenniini are described based on specimens collected in Yunnan, China, including 30 species of Cephennodes (s. str.): C. alius sp. nov., C. aliusmodi sp. nov., C. arcuatus sp. nov., C. asymmetricus sp. nov., C. biimpressus sp. nov., C. cavatus sp. nov., C. curvitibia sp. nov., C. dehongdaianus sp. nov., C. deinonychus sp. nov., C. deviator sp. nov., C. dilatatus sp. nov., C. frontorhinus sp. nov., C. glabrifrons sp. nov., C. gracilis sp. nov., C. micrus sp. nov., C. molestus sp. nov., C. nubis sp. nov., C. parvus sp. nov., C. planus sp. nov., C. posterotibialis sp. nov., C. pseudopalpalis sp. nov., C. rufus sp. nov., C. subapicalis sp. nov., C. transversicarinatus sp. nov., C. triangularis sp. nov., C. triangulifer sp. nov., C. tuberculatus sp. nov., C. unicornis sp. nov., C. unus sp. nov., C. xueshanus sp. nov.; and 10 species of Cephennodes (Fusionodes): C. brachyclavatus sp. nov., C. brachycornis sp. nov., C. jizushanus sp. nov., C. linguatoides sp. nov., C. linguatus sp. nov., C. longicornis sp. nov., C. microsoma sp. nov., C. pingbianus sp. nov., C. pseudolinguatus sp. nov., C. spatulatus sp. nov. New records of six previously known species are given: C. bicolor Jałoszyński, C. carinifrons Jałoszyński, C. hamatus Jałoszyński, C. spinosus Jałoszyński, C. triangulifrons Jałoszyński, and C. yunnanensis Jałoszyński. Including the newly described taxa, 123 spp. of Cephennodes are known to occur in China (incl. Hong Kong). Keys to Chinese species of Cephennodes, divided into species groups, are given. New species groups are established and some of the previously proposed species groups are redefined.
