A new subspecies of Udara placidula (Druce, 1895) from Hainan Island of China (Lepidoptera: Lycaenidae)

Abstract

A new subspecies of Udara placidula (Druce, 1895), namely U. p. inayoshii Li & Liu subsp. nov., is described from Hainan Island of China, characterized by its usually broad black border on the wing upperside. The adults, genitalia, diagnosis of this new subspecies, along with a distributional map of U. placidula in the vicinity of Hainan, are provided.
