Orthoptera Borneo calling song species complex stridulatory organs

Abstract

One new species of Lipotactes (Mortoniellus) is described from Meligan in Western in Sabah: Lipotactes (Mortoniellus) sanguineus sp. nov. This new species is characterised by its large habitus (similar to Lipotactes (Mortoniellus) karnyi) and presence of a pair of sclerites in the male genitalia; but differs by the shapes of cercus and sclerites. The calling song of this species was also recorded and is described here and compared with that of Lipotactes (Mortoniellus) karnyi and a few other Bornean species. New material, including that of the Lipotactes alienus-virescens species complex, is also discussed.
