Abstract

Ennya is a very speciose genus of treehoppers, especially in the northern Andes. After review of the type material of most species of the genus, the following nomenclatural changes are proposed: Ennya nebulosa Breddin syn. nov. of Ennya chlorizans Breddin stat. rev., Ennya gibbera Goding reinst. comb., Ennya funkhouseri Goding stat. rev., Creonus fasciata Fallou comb. nov., Centronodus gounellei Fallou comb. nov., and, as Polyglyptini incertae sedis, Maturna rufomaculata Fallou. Lectotypes are designated for E. ecuadorensis Fowler, E. conspersa Stål, E. notata Stål, and E. nutans Stål. Two new species are described from the Ecuadorian Andes: Ennya allkukiru Montalvo-Salazar sp. nov. and E. lamariela Montalvo-Salazar & López-García sp. nov. The first immature of the genus is described. Lastly, we provide a key to all Ennya species and new distributional records within Ecuador of E. chrysura Fairmaire, E. sobria Walker, and E. scaramozzinoi Creão-Duarte & Sakakibara.
