A new species of Syndicus s. str. from Sumatra (Coleoptera, Staphylinidae, Scydmaeninae)

Coleoptera Stenichnini Oriental taxonomy new species

Abstract

To date, only one species of the nominotypical subgenus of Syndicus Motschulsky was known to occur in Sumatra. A second species, Syndicus (s. str.) minimus sp. n., is described, based on males and females collected in Aceh, North and West Sumatra provinces. The new species is remarkably small-bodied and has conspicuously punctate elytra. An updated checklist of species in the nominotypical subgenus of Syndicus is given.
