Abstract
The genus-group name Dendrodus Olivier, 2008 (Acari) is a junior homonym of Dendrodus Owen, 1841 (Pisces), and must be replaced. The family group name Dendrochaetidae Olivier, 2008 is unavailable because its type genus was not designated. The author hereby rectifies both problems by proposing the new genus name Dendrochaetus nom. nov. as a replacement for the preoccupied name Dendrodus Olivier, 2008. The author hereby also designates Dendrochaetus nom. nov. as type genus of Dendrochaetidae fam. nov. The description of Dendrochaetidae and diagnosis of the genus are as given by Olivier (2008).
