Hemiptera Corythucha ciliata North Africa

Abstract

The alien North American species of lace bug Corythucha ciliata (Say, 1832) was found on sycamore trees in several localities in Algeria (Annaba Province, Annaba and Seraïdi municipalities) between November 2025 and January 2026. This represents the first record of the species in Algeria and North Africa. Overwintering individuals of the species were found on a large number of sycamore trees in all observed locations, suggesting that the species has become established in the region and is likely more widespread than documented here.
