A new species of the genus Sphinxis Roelofs, 1875 (Coleoptera, Curculionidae) from Indonesia

Abstract

A new species, Sphinxis reshetnikovi Legalov, sp. nov. from Borneo (Indonesia: South Kalimantan Province) is described and illustrated. The new species differs from Sphinxis uniformis Kojima et Morimoto, 2000 in the rostrum longer than the pronotum, the elytra more narrowed towards their apex, the forehead between the eyes 1/3× as wide as width of the base of the rostrum, the mesosternal process distinctly wider than the coxa, with a stark transverse flexure near the base.
