Abstract
All species of the genus Syntomus described from the Oriental region are revised. Six species are excluded from this genus. A new species, S. mateui sp. nov., is described from India and Nepal. One subspecies, S. monticola curtus Andrewes, 1923, is elevated to species rank S. curtus (Andrewes, 1923) stat. nov. and redescribed. New combinations and a new synonymy are proposed: Dromius nagatomii Jedlička, 1966 = Syntomus nagatomii (Jedlička, 1966), comb. nov.; Syntomus quadripunctatus (Schmidt-Göbel, 1846) = Metabletus philippinus Jedlička, 1936, syn. nov.; Metabletus hastatus Andrewes, 1931 = Metadromius hastatus (Andrewes, 1931), comb. nov. Lectotypes are designated for Metabletus monticola Andrewes, 1923 and Metabletus monticola var. curtus Andrewes, 1923. An identification key to oriental species of Syntomus is provided.
