Abstract
A new potter wasp species, Eumenes massarum sp. nov., is described. It has often been misidentified as the allopatric E. papillarius (Christ, 1791) due to their morphological similarities. Detailed morphological, morphometric, and COI genetic analyses indicate that E. massarum sp. nov. is a separate taxon, genetically more closely related to E. pedunculatus (Panzer, 1799). Current data suggests a restricted distribution, primarily in the coastal and mountainous regions of Croatia. The European fauna of this genus is now comprised of 14 known species.
