Abstract
An extinct monotypic fossil genus Mina Li, Wang, Zhang, Mao & Meng, 2016 of basal Glires was recently established to include a monotypic species viz., Mina hui Li, Wang, Zhang, Mao & Meng, from the Middle Paleocene of Qianshan, Anhui, China (Li et al., 2016). However, the generic name Mina was preoccupied by the Hemiptera genus Mina Walker, 1858 and the Coleoptera genus Mina Raffray, 1890 (Hexapoda, Insecta). The latter genus was replaced by the name Mnia proposed by Newton & Chandler (1989). Thus, the newly described extinct fossil genus name Mina Li, Wang, Zhang, Mao & Meng, 2016 is a junior homonym of the genera Mina Walker, 1858 (Hemiptera). To resolve this homonymy, in accordance with ICZN Article 60 (International Commission on Zoological Nomenclature 1999), a new replacement name is proposed herein.
