Abstract
A taxonomic revision of the genus Apteroloma Hatch, 1927 in Mexico is presented. Seven species are recognized: A. balli (Bolívar y Pieltain & Hendrichs, 1972), stat. nov. (ex A. sallaei balli) from Iztaccíhuatl (Estado de México), A. bolivari (Hendrichs & Rotger, 1970) from Nevado de Toluca (Estado de México), A. newtoni sp. nov. from La Malinche (Tlaxcala), A. ordazi (Bolívar y Pieltain & Hendrichs, 1972), stat. nov. (ex A. sallaei ordazi) from Popocatépetl (Estado de México), A. rotgeri (Bolívar y Pieltain & Hendrichs, 1972) from Cerro Potosí (Nuevo León), A. sallaei (Matthews, 1888) from Pico de Orizaba (Puebla), and A. sciakyi sp. nov. from Cofre de Perote (Veracruz). All species are redescribed, habitus and genital structures are illustrated, a key to adults of the Mexican species is provided, and their distributions are mapped. All species appear to be restricted to isolated high-elevation mountain systems.
