Abstract
To date, only two species of Plagiophorus Motschulsky have been recorded from Japan: P. fujiyamai (Kubota, 1944), and P. hispidus Sugaya, Nomura & Burckhardt, 2004. The former is broadly distributed in the mainland Japan and the Ryukyu Archipelago, and the latter is known to occur on the southwestern islands of Ishigaki and Iriomote. Two new species, P. yanbarunchu sp. nov. and P. ishigachiensis sp. nov., are described based on specimens collected respectively on Okinawa Is. and Ishigaki Is.
