A new species of the weevil genus Corimalia Gozis, 1885 (Coleoptera: Brentidae: Nanophyinae) from Turkey and Iran

Abstract

Corimalia zherikhini Schön, Korotyaev & Skuhrovec, sp. nov. is described and illustrated from Turkey and Iran. The new species is compared with C. postica (Gyllenhal, 1838), C. tadzhika Zherikhin & Korotyaev, 2022, C. pallida (Olivier, 1807), C. lunulata (Wollaston, 1863) and C. schatzmayri Giordani-Soika, 1937. It is most similar to C. tadzhika in all principal characters including the presence of very long black setae on the apices of the male meso- and especially metatibiae but clearly differs in the characteristic arrangement of the setae on the metatibiae in an angular comb and in the not produced apically penis. A key to species of the Corimalia postica group is provided.
