He described more than 500 taxa, mostly bees. Moure's last publication was the catalogue of the bees of the Neotropical Region, which is a comprehensive taxonomic account of more than 5,000 species. The entomological collection which carries his name, 'Entomological Collection Jesus Santiago Moure" at Universidade Federal do Paraná, comprises more than three million insects and has supported a multitude of taxonomic studies. Today's paper by C.S. Ribeiro-Costa provides a catalog of the types of some families of Coleoptera (Insecta) deposited in this collection.

01/01/08 January 1, 2008 marks the 250th anniversary of the official publication date of Systema Naturae (Linnaeus 1758) and the beginning of zoological taxonomy. An editorial introduces an exemplar paper by Pyle et al. (2008: 3-31) who described five new species of damselfish (Chromis) from deep coral reefs in the tropical western Pacific. This is the first taxonomic paper integrating many of the most recent cybertaxonomic tools with species descriptions and demonstrating the utility of international standards for biodiversity informatics.

27/05/05 The first issue of Zootaxa was published on 28 May 2001. Since then, 1000 issues of Zootaxa have been published. From issue 1001, short papers will be combined into issues of 60-68 pages, but monographs of 60 or more pages will be separately issued with ISBNs as before. This will not affect the speed of publication, but will save the use of paper and reduce printing/delivery cost.

The print edition of Zootaxa in 2004 is priced at US$3484.20 for library subscription, which is about a quarter of the combined total of these eight journals.
