In 2007, Zootaxa published 1058 papers (including 57 monographs) in 285 issues and 23,530 pages; weekly, Zootaxa publishes on average 20 papers (including 1 monograph)  in 5.5 issues and 450 pages. An average paper is about 22 pages (excluding correspondences and errata). The largest paper in 2007 is a 872-page monograph on Copepoda Harpacticoida (Crustacea) by John Wells (New Zealand) in Zootaxa 1568.

Since the start of Zootaxa in 2001, 1103 issues of Zootaxa have been published in a total of 31038 printed pages, with contributions from 1619 authors describing 2337 new taxa. Authors from biodiversity-rich developing nations are fairly well represented. See further information.

From issue 1001, short papers will be combined into issues of 60-68 pages, but monographs of 60 or more pages will be separately issued with ISBNs as before. This will not affect the speed of publication, but will save the use of paper and reduce printing/delivery cost.

The print edition of Zootaxa in 2004 is priced at US$3484.20 for library subscription, which is about a quarter of the combined total of these eight journals.
