Validation of the genus Blagorrhina Hippa, Mattsson & Vilkamaa gen. n. (Diptera: Lygistorrhinidae)

Abstract

When we (Hippa, Mattsson and Vilkamaa 2005a) proposed the genus name Blagorrhina gen. n., with two new species, we missed to include the type species designation for the genus. The subsequent correction (Hippa, Mattsson and Vilkamaa 2005b), in which we did not indicate the name to be ‘new’, failed to make the generic name available according to ICZN Article 16.1, and it remained a nomen nudum (Evenhuis et al. 2008).
