Abstract
Almeida (1998) published the name Clitoria annua var. sekharii M. R. Almeida & N. Chaturv. with a diagnosis in English, but not in Latin. For new names to be validly published between 1935–2011, a Latin description or diagnosis is required (Art. 36.1, McNeill et al., 2006). In addition, he did not designate a type which was obligatory after 1 January 1958 (Art. 37.1). The combination therefore is doubly invalid. We here validate the combination by providing a diagnosis and designating a type.
