Aporpium miniporum, a new polyporoid species with vertically septate basidia from southern China

Abstract


Vertically septate basidium is rarely present in polyporoid fungal species. In this study, Aporpium miniporum is newly described from Hainan, southern China based on a combination of morphological and ITS-based phylogenetic evidence. This new species is close to Aporpium dimidiatum and A. efibulatum from both morphological and phylogenetic perspectives. Aporpium miniporum differs from A. dimidiatum by its resupinate, effuse-reflexed to pileate basidiocarps, smaller pores and smaller allantoid basidiospores. Aporpium efibulatum is also known from Hainan, but bears resupinate basidiocarps, larger pores and ellipsoid basidiospores.
